Beta Lambda Chapter Voter Registration
The slogan, "A Voteless People is a Hopeless People", initiated in 1936, continues to serve as the battle cry for Beta Lambda's on-going voter registration drives. This program is primarily designed to register and educate African Americans who are eligible to vote and to become an active part of the political process.
Activities
- Area High Schools - over 1,000 high school seniors were registered to vote at seven high schools in the Kansas City Missouri School District. Letters, along with a bumper sticker reading, "A Voteless People is a Hopeless People" are sent to each registrant.
- Shopping Malls -- registration was conducted at Bannister Mall, a major shopping mall in south Kansas City. Numerous adults were registered.
